During annealing, quenching and carburizing heat treatment of metal parts, the metal surface is prone to oxidation and decarburization at high temperatures. Charging high-purity argon as a protective atmosphere can keep the part surface bright and improve hardness and wear resistance after heat treatment.
Parts heat-treated in a protective atmosphere have no oxide scale on the surface and need no subsequent polishing, increasing the product qualification rate by more than 10%; compared with nitrogen protection, argon has higher purity, suitable for heat treatment of stainless steel and precision alloy parts.
